Characteristic

The measures taken against noise nuisance from the high-speed train result in a noise reduction of up to 10 dB(A) in some places.

The project

On the HSL-Zuid (the High-Speed Line), trains from Amsterdam and the Belgian border run at high speeds. Due to the high speeds, several noise barriers have been placed along the HSL to prevent noise nuisance. These noise barriers are part of a number of measures to reduce noise nuisance from the High Speed Line for local residents. BAM Infra is the client of this project. The aim is to have made all existing screens sound-absorbing by the end of 2021 or to replace them with new screens.

Our contribution

We were called in to repair damage to noise barriers along the High Speed Line. Some noise barriers are being replaced and some have been repaired. We have contributed to the restoration of the 'old' noise barriers. These screens, with a total length of more than two kilometers, were provided with a powder coating in RAL color 7035 about 15 years ago. By repairing the damage to the old panels, we can extend this lifespan.
