Characteristic

A total of 60,000 bolts, nuts and washers and 600 tons of steel constructions were used for the realization of the wind barriers.

The project

An impressive project: the Third Moerdijk Bridge. 1500 wind barrier covering a distance of almost 3 kilometers were placed here. This requires a lot of material. A total of 60,000 bolts, nuts and washers were used, in addition to the steel structures weighing a total of 600 tons. The ‘Derde Moerdijk Bridge’ between Dordrecht and Breda is an important part of the high-speed line (HSL), a train railway in the Netherlands. It transports passengers at a speed of up to 300 km/h. But when the wind blows hard, the HSL is often closed. Both train services and passengers will be pleased with the wind barriers. This allows the train to safely cross the bridge, even in wind force 7 to 8.

Our contribution

Damage to the coating can occur during installation, which is why NESTcoat was involved in the project. Any spot with damage has been repaired by us immediately. The aim was to make the preservation strong and protective again. This enabled the HSL to be used again as quickly as possible. The wind barriers are now well protected against environmental influences.
