Characteristic

The Norwegian Joy is one of the largest cruise ships in the world. The cruise ship sails in North America, the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean, among other places. A go-kart track with electric karts was realized on board the ship in collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari Watches.

The project

The 2017 Norwegian Joy is the second ship of the Breakaway Plus Class of the Norwegian Cruise Line. It is one of the largest cruise ships in the world and sails in North America, the Caribbean and the Atlantic Ocean. Like its sister ships, the Bliss and the Encore, it has a striking painting on the outside of the bow. This one was designed by the Chinese artist Tan Ping. The ship offers plenty of culinary and recreational opportunities. There is an onboard go-kart track designed in collaboration with Scuderia Ferrari Watches. The karts drive electrically and thus contribute to sustainability.

Our contribution

Before the ship was taken into use, NESTcoat contributed to the finishing of the go-kart track in Papenburg. We did this for three ships of the Norwegian Cruise Line, including the Norwegian Joy. The coating of the steel construction has been restored. This makes the go-kart track ready for cruise goers and for the weather influences associated with the sea.
